Labyrinth Facts

These are things that I found interesting about this movie that no one else did.

- Last feature film by Jim Henson

- Dr. Beverly Crusher from Star Trek: Next Generation was a featured choreographer

- Considered a financial flop, grossing only $12.7 million domestically

- Toby (the baby, it's his real name) is now a puppet-maker

- Toby's father was the movie's conceptual designer and was also responsible for Jareth's bulge

- The voice of Miss Piggy was the puppeteer for the Wise Man but did not do any voice work for the film

- Terry Jones of Monty Python wrote one of the original scripts (and yes, I'm talking about Labyrinth and not All Dogs Go To Heaven, shut up Christa & Sam)

- The baby noises in "Magic Dance" were made by David Bowie because he felt that real baby noises were not good enough

- The puppet Hoggle was lost in transit and is now on display at the unclaimed baggage center in Alabama

- Hoggle had 18 motors in his face and was operated by 4 people

- Hoggle was voiced by Jim Henson's son, Brian Henson

- Jareth's staff is called a "Swagger Stick"

- Voice of Sir Didymus is also the voice of Gonzo

- The "Dance Magic" scene comprised of over 40 puppets, 52 puppeteers, and 8 people in goblin suits.

- The script went through 25 rewrites

- Michael Jackson and Sting were both considered for the part of Jareth but it eventually went to David Bowie on the request of Jim Henson's kids

- The original Ludo suit weighed over 100 lbs, Jim Henson had it remade to weigh around 75 lbs and it still took 2 people to share the load

- The goblin city required the biggest panoramic back cloth ever made at the time

- The enchanted forest comprised of 40,000 leaves, 120 truckloads of tree branches, 1,200 turfs of grass, 850 lbs of dried leaves, 133 bags of lichen
